ICIF in Costigliole d’Asti will host the popular Taiwanese Pastry Chef on Wednesday, 22nd of June from 4.30 pm; he will delight eyes and palates with three dishes symbols of the Chinese gastronomic culture
The oldest institute of Italian regional cuisine could not have been exempt from celebrating a so desired come back to normality. This time, the school of Italian food and wine culture of excellence in Costigliole d’Asti, will be the landlord and welcome an exceptional guest, Chef Sung Chiung-Hung, directly from Taiwan. With his career spent inside the best hotels in Taipei (Shangri-La Hotel, Hilton Taipei, Grand Hyatt Hotel), he will held a demonstration with a final tasting by the participants of three typical recipes, one more popular than the others: small steamed bun filling with juicy pork “Xiao Long Bao”, barbecued pork puff (puff dough) and the traditional pineapple cake of his island. Taiwan is a kingdom of tropical fruit and the famous Taiwanese pineapple cake is one of the most top selling souvenirs, so that since 2005 the Taipei City Government has run a Taipei Pineapple Cake Cultural Festival. A unique opportunity to know the most authentic oriental dishes, born from the profitable partnership between the international institute of cuisine and the Shih Chien University of Taipei which every year sends several students to ICIF to live the Italian experience on the Monferrato hills and to know the excellent national food and wine from the inside. In the ICIF I Level Master Course in Italian Cuisine and Oenology now being held at the Institute, even 9 are the Taiwanese students from that University.
