The first migrants disembarked from the ship “La Sofia” in 1874: this year, we celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Italian Immigration in Brazil, but not only that. The historical office ICIF BRAZIL celebrates its quarter century. ICIF of Costigliole d’Asti will bring its special contribution to the two celebrations with the event in San Paolo VIVERE ITALIA.
From November 11 to 14, ICIF, the first Institute of Italian Cuisine for foreign chefs, a historic ambassador of Italian food and wine culture in the world, will inaugurate a new, great event: “Vivere Italia”, a true Festival of regional food and wine organized with the patronage of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, the Piedmont Region and the Italian Consulate in São Paulo. There could not have been a better occasion to kick off such an event that will become itinerant and will be repeated in 2025 not only in Brazil but also in the East, touching nations such as China, South Korea and the Philippines.
The mission? To tell, communicate and consolidate the knowledge of Italian agri-food excellence to the general public: operators in the Horeca sector, importers, distributors, students and teachers of hotel schools, end consumers and simple enthusiasts.
We will start with the wines (and what wines!) protagonists of two tasting seminars dedicated to Northern Italy. The Barbera d'Asti and Monferrato wines Consortium will bring the best versions of Barbera d'Asti to the tasting tables; also present will be the Barolo of the municipality of La Morra from the Viberti winery and the Chiaretto di Bardolino Rodon from Le Fraghe wine Company. The Consortium for the Protection of the Pinot Grigio delle Venezie wine, will hold a workshop dedicated to their grape variety, an interregional DOC that has the same borders as the ancient Maritime Republic of Venice.
There will also be Italian gold: extra virgin olive oil, which can be appreciated during the dedicated tasting and will also be the main ingredient of the recipes that Italian chefs will perform during their demos.
The gastronomic component will not be outdone: in addition to master classes on pasta and risotto (provided by one of the school's unmissable historical partners, the Riso Gallo company, present with the "Inverni" brand in Central and South America), the kitchen will be tinged with pink with the all-female dinners of chef Alessia Maria Rolla and sous chef Erica Origlia of the "Cantina Nicola" Restaurant of Cocconato (AT). Make way for healthy competition with the "Best Risotto" culinary contest sponsored by Riso Gallo company which will offer a scholarship to the winner to participate free of charge in a cooking course at the ICIF in Costigliole d'Asti.
